A Top 40 Accounting Firm is seeking an experienced Audit & Accounts Senior to join its Peterborough team. You will manage a varied portfolio of external clients, prepare accounts and tax work, support audit assignments and review junior colleagues' work, while working closely with managers, partners and clients. The role offers a supportive environment with opportunities to develop your technical and client-facing skills.

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities and limited companies.
  • Prepare independent examinations for charity clients for Partner sign-off.
  • Assist managers with client audit assignments.
  • Prepare cash flow statements and supporting schedules.
  • Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and obtain information.
  • Complete assignments accurately, within budget and to agreed deadlines.
  • Prepare draft tax computations and schedules for tax returns.
  • Prepare year-end accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Review work completed by junior members of the team.
  • Support the development and training of junior staff.
  • Complete VAT returns.

Personal Requirements

  • Current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.
  • ACA, ACCA or ACA CTA qualified, or actively working towards a relevant qualification.
  • Proven experience preparing accounts for a varied portfolio of external clients.
  • Experience across accounts and audit within a practice environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and UK practice procedures.
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with accounts and/or audit software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to manage your own workload and work effectively to deadlines and budgets.
  • Confident communicating with clients and resolving queries.
  • Comfortable reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel to clients and other offices when required.
  • Highly organised, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality work.
  • Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
