Interim Financial Accountants - Infrastructure Transformation

Five interim roles | Maidenhead hybrid | ASAP to 31 December 2026 | £400-£600 per day Outside IR35

I am supporting an infrastructure business through a significant finance clean-up and stabilisation programme. The business is looking for five experienced interim Financial Accountants who can bring technical strength, pace and practical delivery to a complex multi-entity environment.

These are hands-on remediation assignments for seasoned finance contractors who are comfortable walking into imperfect ledgers, diagnosing what is wrong, rebuilding control, and leaving behind processes that the permanent team can operate with confidence.

The opportunity

You will join a focused interim team working alongside the Financial Controller to address priority areas across statutory accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, cashbook and bank reconciliation, intercompany, consolidation and wider ledger clean-up. Each contractor will own a defined area, but the roles are deliberately connected: issues surfaced in one area will often drive the work into another.

The brief is to get under the skin of the numbers, resolve historic issues, improve audit readiness, and support the business in moving from manual, inconsistent processes to a cleaner and more controlled finance function.

Key focus areas

Financial statements: reviewing auditor-produced statutory accounts across UK and European entities, challenging technical positions, reconciling to the GL and supporting audit completion.Balance sheet reconciliations: building and embedding a proper reconciliation standard, clearing legacy unreconciled positions and moving the process towards BAU.Cashbook and bank reconciliation: rebuilding the cash position, clearing historic gaps, posting corrective journals and establishing a repeatable reconciliation cadence.Intercompany and consolidation: resolving multi-entity, multi-currency intercompany issues, improving mapping and settlement processes, and helping create a controlled group position.Flexible finance support: picking up residual ledger, process and clean-up issues, supporting the permanent team and moving across priorities as the programme evolves.

What I am looking for

Qualified accountant, or QBE with equivalent demonstrable experience.Strong technical accounting fundamentals, including confidence with double entry, trial balances, control accounts and chart of accounts.Proven experience in finance remediation, clean-up, restructuring or transformation assignments.Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets, manual workarounds and imperfect ERP outputs.Strong multi-entity experience; consolidation, intercompany, FX and foreign currency exposure are highly desirable.Experience in project-based or contract-led businesses, with knowledge of IFRS 15 or FRS 102 revenue recognition, would be advantageous.Comfortable producing audit-ready deliverables, responding to auditor queries and documenting work clearly.Self-directed, pragmatic and able to work at pace with minimal oversight.NetSuite experience would be useful but is not essential.

Why this will appeal

This is a strong assignment for contractors who enjoy fixing complex finance problems rather than maintaining the status quo. You will have clear ownership, visible impact, and the opportunity to leave a finance function materially stronger than you found it.

The client expects an initial presence in Maidenhead two to three days per week while the contractors get up to speed, with scope for greater remote working once established and subject to team requirements.

I am looking for a specialist Interim Financial Accountant to lead intercompany remediation across a growing multi-entity, multi-currency infrastructure group. The role will reconcile the position, clear mismatches and build a repeatable intercompany process.

The assignment

The current intercompany process is manual, error-prone and not supported by a reliable cadence. You will move the business from annual audit clean-up to a controlled process covering mapping, recharges, settlement and FX.

Key responsibilities

Reconcile intercompany across the group and clear mismatches.Resolve issues identified through cashbook and balance sheet workstreams.Build a repeatable process for mapping, recharges, settlement and FX.Assess existing ERP consolidation and partial automation.Coordinate with statutory accounts to support clean entity close.Document and hand over the process to BAU.

The right candidate

You will be a senior accountant with strong multi-entity, multi-currency intercompany and consolidation experience. The role requires someone who has previously taken intercompany from a manual, unreconciled position to a controlled, repeatable process.

Essential experience

Extensive intercompany reconciliation experience.Strong consolidation experience, ideally multi-currency.Experience resolving intercompany issues caused by growth, FX and manual processes.Ability to design repeatable intercompany processes.Advanced Excel and strong stakeholder coordination skills.
