This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join a well-established organisation where you will play an important role in managing supplier relationships, delivering commercial value and ensuring the effective procurement of goods and services across the business.

The client is a leading global manufacturer of highly specialised films, supplying a range of international markets and operating within a technically advanced manufacturing environment.

The Role

Reporting into the Planning & Procurement Manager, you will take responsibility for a broad range of procurement activities, ensuring goods and services are sourced competitively, efficiently and in line with business requirements.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, balancing commercial objectives with quality, service, compliance and operational requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage procurement activity across a varied portfolio of goods and services, ensuring competitive commercial outcomes and strong overall value.Lead supplier negotiations, considering the wider cost implications of purchasing decisions rather than simply focusing on initial price.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with existing and prospective suppliers.Source products and services from suitably approved suppliers, ensuring requirements around quality, specification, quantity, cost and delivery are consistently achieved.Monitor supplier performance and work collaboratively to resolve any issues relating to quality, pricing, delivery or service.Take ownership of the purchase order process, ensuring orders are accurately raised, acknowledged and maintained within the procurement system.Investigate and resolve purchasing discrepancies, including pricing, delivery and invoice-related issues.Ensure procurement activity complies with relevant legislation, company policies and internal controls.Support the organisation's quality and accreditation requirements, including adherence to relevant ISO and BRC standards.Work closely with internal departments to understand requirements and ensure procurement activity supports operational priorities.Assist with monthly procurement reporting, providing visibility of commercial opportunities, risks, supplier performance and areas requiring attention.Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, supplier arrangements and overall value delivered to the business.Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure systems and documentation remain up to date.About You

We're looking for a commercially minded procurement professional who is confident dealing with suppliers, negotiating effectively and managing multiple priorities within a busy manufacturing environment.

You will ideally have:

Previous experience within a Buyer, Senior Buyer or Procurement position.Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.Experience procuring a broad range of goods and/or services.Excellent commercial awareness, with the ability to assess total cost and value.Strong attention to detail and numerical ability.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.The ability to organise your workload effectively and work to demanding deadlines.Strong Microsoft Excel skills.Experience using SAP or a similar ERP/procurement system would be advantageous.CIPS qualification, or a willingness to work towards CIPS, would be highly desirable.Previous experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment would be beneficial.What's on Offer?

Offering a competitive salary of £36,000 - £40,000 per annum you'll further benefit from 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), the option to carry over holidays, company pension scheme, career progression, training and annual merits. Working hours are Monday to Friday.

This role will suit a hands-on purchasing professional who enjoys supplier interaction, stock control, and working closely with internal stakeholders across product development, manufacturing, distribution, and customer support.

The Role

Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for managing purchasing activity across a diverse supplier base. You will play a key part in supplier management, stock control, and ensuring continuity of supply while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Management

Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of suppliersEnsure products are delivered on time, to the required quality and at competitive costSupport supplier selection, onboarding and compliance processesAssist with negotiations and commercial discussionsWork closely with product development teams to support new product introductionProduce reports and analysis on spend, cost savings, KPIs and supplier performance

Stock & Supply Management

Maintain and update inventory and purchasing recordsMonitor stock levels to ensure customer demand is metForecast stock requirements and monitor stock value, including aged or obsolete itemsAct as an escalation point for supply-related issuesCoordinate with manufacturing, warehouse and distribution teamsSource alternative suppliers where required to mitigate supply risk
