A well-established Civil Engineering business based in Bootle is seeking an experienced and organised Payroll Manager to join its growing finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to take ownership of the payroll function while also having the opportunity to support the wider accounts department and develop their skillset within a dynamic and supportive business.

The Role

As Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for managing the company's weekly and monthly payroll processes, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. You will work closely with the finance team and operational departments to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and process weekly and monthly payrolls from start to finishEnsure payroll is processed accurately and in line with HMRC regulationsMaintain employee payroll records and handle payroll-related queriesProcess starters, leavers, salary changes, pensions, and statutory paymentsPrepare payroll reports and reconciliationsLiaise with external bodies including HMRC and pension providersSupport the wider finance team with accounts administration and related dutiesAssist with continuous improvements to payroll and finance processes

About You

Previous experience managing payroll end-to-endStrong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirementsExcellent attention to detail and organisational skillsConfident using payroll software and Microsoft ExcelAbility to work independently and manage multiple deadlinesStrong communication skills and a proactive approach
