If you are seeking to join a friendly and progressive within an established payroll department working autonomously running your own full end to end payrolls and overseeing another team member, delegating workload, mentoring and leading from the front this is the opportunity for you. The successful candidate should possess previous end to end payroll processing experience processing multiple payrolls on a weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis and have either team leader/manager/assistant manager or payroll senior experience, ready to step up into this fulfilling and autonomous role!

Role Responsibilities

Butler Rose is delighted to partner with an exciting and dynamic organisation, currently seeking a Payroll Manager to join their finance team on a permanent basis. This established business, with global connections, offers a hybrid working model, allowing you to work from home one to two days a week. Excellent culture and a friendly, welcoming team.

It will be an advantage if you have experience of managing payroll for hourly paid employees within a multi-site operation. We are looking for someone who is driven, a real problem solver and proficient in Excel and payroll software. This position is open to someone is seeking a step up in their current Payroll career.

Key Responsibilities:
* Production of the end-to-end payroll, processing in a timely manner approximately 900 UK employees, including monthly salaries and bi-weekly pay.
* Ensure all new legislation and government requirements are met. Educate the senior team on changes and how they impact the business
* Collate and process all UK payroll data into ADP, covering starters, leavers, benefits, bonuses, overtime, pensions, etc.
* Calculate PAYE and NI, as well as gross-to-net figures.
* Prepare and review monthly payroll reconciliations and control reports.
* Produce payslips using Excel (VLOOKUP proficiency required), ensuring high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Oversee the administration of monthly pension schemes, including enrolment, contributions, and liaison with pension providers.
* Address payroll-related enquiries from employees, providing accurate information and resolving concerns.
* Issue monthly payroll files to senior management for approval and payroll sign-off.
* Produce final payroll reports.
* Manage monthly reconciliations for payments to HMRC and other third parties.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of controls, processes, and procedures.

The Successful Applicant:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for handling complex payroll calculations, identifying discrepancies, reconciling reports, and proactively resolving issues.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively address employee enquiries and concerns.
* Understanding of data protection regulations and confidentiality requirements in handling employee information.
* Demonstrates integrity and honesty.
* Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and prioritise work to meet tight deadlines.
* Proven experience within payroll, with in-depth knowledge of UK payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, maintaining a _can-do_ attitude.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Experience in the continuous improvement of controls, processes, and procedures.
