We are recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join an established and growing business based in Taunton.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a varied role covering management accounts, reporting, reconciliations and wider financial accounting. You'll work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, providing accurate financial information and useful insight to support business decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly management accounts and provide meaningful financial insight.Produce sales, margin and cost reports.Post monthly journals, including prepayments and accruals.Maintain a fully reconciled balance sheet, highlighting key risks and opportunities.Manage the fixed asset register and ensure depreciation is accurately recorded.Prepare supplier payment runs in line with agreed timetables.Reconcile customer rebates and prepare agents' commission workings.Prepare VAT returns for review.Complete general accounting and financial reports as required.Liaise with and support external auditors when required.Provide wider support to the finance team and contribute to statutory reporting requirements.About YouWe're looking for someone who is analytical, organised and commercially aware, with the ability to work accurately across a varied finance function.
You will ideally have:
Experience in a Management Accountant or similar finance role.CIMA or ACCA part-qualified status, or demonstrable equivalent experience.Strong analytical and numerical skills.Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Experience using Sage - essential.A positive, flexible approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.The RoleThis is a great opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant looking for a varied position within an established finance team, with the opportunity to work closely with the Finance Manager and wider business.

This is a highly visible, business-facing position that goes beyond traditional credit control. You'll work closely with Finance, Sales and senior stakeholders, providing clear insight into debtor performance and taking ownership of complex customer accounts and reconciliations.
The RoleTake end-to-end ownership of the trade debtor ledger and deliver effective, risk-based cash collection.Manage key and high-risk customer accounts, maintaining strong relationships while taking a firm and professional approach to overdue debt.Contact customers by telephone and email and process card payments securely over the phone.Produce weekly and monthly debtor reports, highlighting overdue balances, disputes, payment promises and emerging risks.Lead monthly debtor review meetings with Finance, Sales, Account Management and senior stakeholders.Prepare short-term cash collection forecasts and highlight any risks or variances affecting cash flow.Recommend appropriate action including account holds, credit-limit changes, payment plans, legal recovery, bad-debt provisions and write-offs.Take ownership of complex customer account reconciliations, investigating payment differences, deductions, shortages, chargebacks and pricing claims.Work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Finance to resolve disputes and prevent recurring issues.Support month-end reporting and identify opportunities to improve processes and remove barriers to invoicing and collection.About YouWe're looking for an experienced Credit Controller who is confident managing a complex or high-volume ledger and can operate comfortably in a commercially focused environment.
You will ideally have:
