An established and growing top 40 accountancy practice is looking to recruit a Personal Tax Senior to join its Private Tax team in Colchester. Working with a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, you'll be responsible for managing compliance work, identifying tax planning opportunities and providing expert technical support to both clients and colleagues. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional looking to take ownership of a portfolio while developing their advisory expertise and supporting the growth of junior team members within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Role Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring all HMRC and internal deadlines are met.Prepare personal tax computations and tax returns for review.Review personal tax work completed by non-tax specialists.Provide technical support and guidance on personal tax queries.Assist with ad hoc tax advisory projects and technical research.Identify and advise on tax planning opportunities.Provide Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax planning advice.Manage and resolve complex HMRC correspondence.Support, coach and develop junior members of the tax team.Work closely with managers, directors and partners on client matters.Personal Requirements
ATT qualified with approximately 5-6 years' post-qualification experience.Strong personal tax compliance experience gained within an accountancy practice.Good commercial awareness and analytical ability.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.Able to prioritise workloads and meet demanding deadlines.Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.Experience using CCH Personal Tax software would be advantageous.Able to travel to client premises and between offices when required.A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to build client relationships, mentor colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement.Benefits
