Butler Rose Recruitment is delighted to be supporting our client in the appointment of an Manager - Accounting Services.
We're seeking an experienced and qualified Accounting Services Manager to join a growing and dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong accountant with proven leadership experience who is passionate about delivering exceptional client service and developing high-performing teams.
Role Requirements:
Provide strong leadership, managing a diverse team with a mix of senior and junior staff, including apprentices.
Work closely with other Managers to ensure smooth day-to-day accounting operations.
Manage a varied portfolio of client accounting work, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
Oversee the preparation and review of annual accounts and related work, identifying and resolving more complex accounting issues and ensuring a high technical standard.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations and firm procedures.
Assist clients with accounting software set-up and other general accounting issues.
Collaborate with other departmental teams to support the effective delivery of services to clients.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance departmental efficiency, accuracy and client service.
Provide support during tax preparation and other regulatory reporting.
Work closely with the Accounting Services Partners, contributing ideas and identifying opportunities to support the continued development of the department and improve processes and client service.
Assist in departmental projects and initiatives as required.
Personal Requirements:
Full ICAEW or ACCA qualification.
Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience of preparing and reviewing accounts within an accountancy practice environment.
Experience of dealing with more complex accounting matters and providing technical guidance to other members of the team.
Previous experience in leading, managing and developing accounting staff.
Experience of managing a portfolio of clients and building strong client relationships.
Experience of working with healthcare clients, particularly GP practices, doctors and/or dentists, would be advantageous but is not essential.
Proficient in a range of accounting software and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and third parties.
A proactive approach, with the confidence to put forward ideas and contribute to the continued development of the department.
Professionalism, discretion and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
The ability to work independently while also working collaboratively as part of a wider team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant ready to take the next step into management, or an existing Assistant Manager looking to further develop their leadership skills within a supportive and growing practice. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients, review technical work, support and develop junior team members, and work closely with senior leadership to deliver exceptional client service.
The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative practice environment.
Role Requirements:
Managing a portfolio of clients including limited companies, sole traders and partnership.Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and FRS 102/FRS 105.Reviewing bookkeeping and management accounts prepared by junior team members.Supporting the day-to-day supervision, coaching and development of Junior Accountants, Apprentices and other members of the team.Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong and trusted relationships.Providing business advisory support, identifying opportunities to add value.Ensuring assignments are completed within agreed budgets and deadlines.Working closely with the Accounting Services Manager and Partners to support the planning and allocation of work, resource management and the continued development of the department.Contributing to process improvements and maintaining high technical standards across the team.Assisting in special projects and initiatives as needed.Personal Requirements:
ACA/ACCA qualified. A minimum of 5-8 years' experience.Previous experience within an accountancy practice at Senior Accountant level or equivalent.Experience managing a portfolio of clients.Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards.Experience reviewing technical work and supervising junior staff.Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.Excellent customer service and the ability to build rapport and manage client relationships.Proficient in accounting software and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.Experience in the medical sector would be advantageous.Job benefits:
