Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and innovative manufacturing business based in Plymouth. Due to continued growth and investment in new product development, our client is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and development of industry-leading products used by globally recognised technology businesses. You'll work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, taking projects from initial concept through to production while collaborating with a range of internal teams and customers.
The RoleAs a Design Engineer, you will be involved throughout the full product development lifecycle, supporting both new product introduction (NPI) projects and enhancements to existing product ranges.
Key responsibilities include:
Creating 3D models, concepts and detailed 2D production drawings for sheet metal components, weldments and assemblies.Supporting new product development and continuous product improvement projects.Leading and contributing to design reviews with internal stakeholders and customers.Managing customer expectations and providing technical design expertise.Ensuring designs meet manufacturing, quality, performance and cost requirements.Driving continuous improvement initiatives and engineering problem-solving activities.Working closely with engineering, production, procurement and commercial teams to deliver successful projects.About YouWe are keen to hear from candidates who have:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.At least three years' experience in a design engineering position.Strong CAD experience, ideally with Creo (or similar 3D CAD software).Experience working with sheet metal and fabricated product design.Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) within a production environment.Experience with tolerance analysis and D-FMEA methodologies.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Desirable experience includes:
