Butler Rose is exclusively recruiting a Senior Finance Manager for a growing, privately owned business in mid Devon. Reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with the senior leadership team, this is a broad and commercially focused role that offers significant exposure across the organisation and a clear route for future progression.

The Role

As Senior Finance Manager, you will lead day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, robust controls and meaningful commercial insight to support business performance and strategic decision-making.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys working across both financial and operational matters in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.Own the budgeting, forecasting and cash flow processes.Deliver accurate and timely management reporting.Strengthen financial controls and governance across the business.Partner with operational managers and department heads to support commercial objectives.Provide financial analysis and insight to aid decision making.Support business planning, growth initiatives and continuous improvement projects.Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

About You

You'll be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with:

Previous experience in a finance leadership role.Strong technical accounting and financial management skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.A highly organised approach with exceptional attention to detail.The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced SME Accountant / Finance Manager to join an established specialist business operating within a prestigious, high-value market.

This is a broad, hands-on finance role combining accounting, month-end, AML/KYC, VAT and compliance with exposure to high-value transactions and specialist royalty payments.

The Role

You will take ownership of a varied finance workload including:
* Day-to-day accounting through to month-end close
* General ledger, reconciliations, supplier invoices and expenses
* Customer invoicing and client/supplier settlements
* AML, KYC, risk assessments and compliance documentation
* VAT, including more complex transactions and treatments
* Administration and calculation of royalty payments
* Supporting improvements to financial processes and controls
* Handling confidential and high-value financial transactions

About You

We are looking for a confident, hands-on accountant who is comfortable working within an SME or owner-managed environment.

ACCA qualification is highly preferred, alongside strong practical accounting experience and demonstrable knowledge of AML/KYC and compliance.

Experience working for an organisation selling prestige, luxury or other high-value products where royalty payments are applicable is highly desirable, but not essential. Experience within art, auctions, galleries or similar specialist markets would also be advantageous.

Sector-specific training will be provided, so the priority is finding someone with the accounting expertise, AML knowledge and SME mindset to make an immediate impact.

Salary: Circa £55,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Manager to join a rapidly growing, private equity-backed organisation in Burnley.

As the business enters its next stage of expansion, significant investment is being made across the finance function. Reporting to the Group Finance Director and working closely with the CFO, you will take ownership of the finance function.

This is a broad, commercially focused role where you'll have the opportunity to improve financial reporting, strengthen controls, drive efficiencies and provide valuable insight to the operational leadership team, with excellent progression and development opportunities. You will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day finance activities of the division, ensuring high-quality reporting, effective controls and strong financial support to the wider business.

Operating within a fast-moving, sales-focused environment, you'll combine strong technical finance skills with a commercial mindset. You'll work closely with senior operational stakeholders, challenge where appropriate and use financial information to help shape business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the full month-end and management accounts process.Prepare flash reporting and provide timely updates to senior management.Complete journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.Act as the key finance business partner for operational stakeholders.Provide commercial analysis and insight to support business performance.Assist with annual budgets, forecasts and ongoing financial planning.Coordinate audit requirements and prepare supporting schedules.Review and approve supplier payment runs.Oversee payroll activities and ensure processes are completed accurately.Lead and support the local finance team, maintaining effective day-to-day operations.Enhance management information and reporting in line with business needs.Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and efficiencies.Develop strong working relationships with finance teams across the wider Group.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

We're looking for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional who is comfortable operating in a high-growth environment.

You'll be confident dealing with senior stakeholders, able to influence and challenge effectively, and equally comfortable getting involved in the detail when required. The ability to combine strong financial control with commercial thinking will be key to your success.

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be QBE.Strong experience delivering end-to-end management accounts.Proven month-end and financial reporting experience.Good technical knowledge of journals and balance sheet reconciliations.Experience with budgeting and forecasting.Advanced or strong Excel skills.Experience with Sage Intacct or a similar ERP system.Previous experience managing, mentoring or supervising a finance team.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.A hands-on, solutions-focused and commercially minded approach.
