Project Accounting Manager
Project Accounting Manager
Location: West London / Berkshire (2-3 days per week on-site)
Duration: ASAP start, c. 6 months
Rate: £450-£600/day (Dependent on Experience)
We are supporting a confidential, high-growth organisation with the appointment of a Project Accounting Manager. This is a hands-on role focused on understanding current processes, improving data quality, strengthening controls and developing more reliable reporting within a complex project-led environment.
The successful candidate will be joining an area where processes are less established, so this role will initially require investigation, analysis and problem-solving before moving into process improvement and implementation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Investigating existing project finance processes to understand how work is captured, costed, transferred and reported.
Reviewing data quality, manual processes and system-related issues that affect reporting accuracy.
Improving job costing, completeness, cut-off and revenue recognition processes.
Identifying gaps in controls, reporting and reconciliations.
Working with information from multiple systems and manual sources to create clearer, more reliable reporting.
Supporting the development of practical processes and controls where current arrangements are limited or inconsistent.
Reviewing intercompany issues across project-led activities and supporting more accurate reporting.
Partnering with Finance, Commercial and operational stakeholders to implement sustainable improvements.
The successful candidate will bring:
Experience in commercial finance, project accounting, operational finance or a similar process-led finance role.
Strong technical accounting awareness, including revenue recognition, cut-off and completeness.
Experience improving finance processes, controls, reconciliations and reporting.
Strong data analysis and Excel skills, with the ability to work through incomplete or inconsistent information.
Experience working with ERP or operational systems, with NetSuite experience considered advantageous.
A practical and investigative approach, with the ability to work out what is happening before designing a solution.
Confidence working with operational and commercial stakeholders to challenge, explain and implement improvements.
Comfort operating in an environment where processes are still being defined, corrected or built.
This role would suit a solution-focused finance professional who enjoys getting into the detail, understanding how processes operate and helping create more reliable controls and reporting from the ground up.
If you are interested in this opportunity and would like further information, please reach out to Cerys Smith.
