An established and growing business is looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Manager to join its small finance team.
This is a varied, hands-on position offering the opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of finance activities, whilst working closely with senior management and supporting the continued development of the finance function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end processes, monitoring financial performance and helping to improve accounting procedures, systems and controls.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
Processing purchase invoices and maintaining accurate accounts payable recordsRaising sales invoices and monitoring outstanding paymentsManaging and reconciling bank accounts and company payment systemsProducing monthly management reports and supporting month-end processesPreparing and posting journals, including accruals and prepaymentsMaintaining fixed asset records and processing depreciationProducing and reviewing creditor and debtor reportsSupporting budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planningAnalysing sales, order book, stock and work-in-progress information against budgetPreparing financial information and reports for management meetingsSupporting VAT/tax returns and year-end accounting requirementsAssisting with annual budgets and regular financial forecastsSupporting external audit and liaising with accountants and other professional advisersMaintaining appropriate financial records and ensuring compliance with company proceduresAssisting with costing and financial analysis of new projectsIdentifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reportingProviding support across the wider finance function as requiredAbout You
We are looking for someone with a strong grounding in finance and accounting who is comfortable working across a broad range of responsibilities.
You will ideally have:
AAT qualification or equivalent accounting qualificationPrevious experience in a similar Finance Officer, Assistant Accountant or Management Accountant positionStrong understanding of double-entry accounting and month-end processesExperience across both purchase and sales ledgerExperience with bank reconciliations, VAT and financial reportingExperience supporting budgets and cash-flow forecastingStrong Excel skills and experience using accounting software, ideally SageExcellent attention to detail and a methodical approachStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsThe ability to work independently and manage competing prioritiesGood communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholdersA proactive approach to improving processes and controlsPayroll experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
