Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a successful and growing manufacturing business in Somerset with the recruitment of a Finance Director.
This is a key appointment within the organisation, reporting directly to the Managing Director. We are seeking an experienced finance leader who can provide both strategic direction and hands-on financial leadership, helping to drive profitability, support growth plans and enhance operational performance.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted business partner to the Managing Director, providing commercial insight, strategic challenge and financial expertise across all areas of the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with the Managing Director and leadership team to support strategic planning and business growth initiatives.Provide financial leadership and commercial insight to support decision-making across the organisation.Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities, ensuring clear visibility of business performance.Deliver high-quality management information and reporting to support operational and strategic objectives.Monitor cash flow, working capital and overall financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.Support investment decisions through financial analysis, modelling and commercial evaluation.Work closely with operational teams to improve profitability, efficiencies and business performance.Ensure robust financial controls, compliance and governance are maintained across the business.Manage key relationships with banking partners, auditors and external advisers.Lead and develop a small finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Assistant to join a highly regarded and unique luxury hospitality and leisure business based in Somerset.
This is a varied finance role, with accounts payable at its core, but plenty of opportunity to get involved across the wider finance function. You'll work within a busy, collaborative team and play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations.
We're looking for someone with at least two years' accounts payable experience who is proactive, organised and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining existing supplier detailsProcessing supplier invoices and credit notesCarrying out monthly supplier statement reconciliationsLiaising with suppliers regarding queries and paymentsManaging supplier payment runs within agreed payment termsSupporting month-end ledger reconciliationsManaging and archiving invoicesReconciling outstanding purchase ordersInvestigating and managing stock discrepanciesManaging the accounts inboxCompleting bank reconciliationsSupporting the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks and projects
About You
We're looking for someone who is:Experienced in Accounts Payable or a similar finance role (minimum 2 years)Numerate, organised and highly detail-orientedConfident using Excel and other IT systemsLogical, precise and accurate in their approachProactive and comfortable taking ownershipAble to work effectively in a busy and sometimes challenging environmentA confident communicator who can build relationships with stakeholders and suppliersResilient, motivated and keen to develop their skillsHonest, approachable and easy to work withExperience within hospitality, leisure or retail would be advantageous but is not essential.
