An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice in Cheshire. Following sustained growth and a significant increase in new audit work, the firm is expanding its audit team with the creation of a brand-new leadership position.
Working closely alongside the Audit Director, this role has been created to strengthen the department by providing day-to-day leadership, mentoring the audit team and overseeing the delivery of high-quality audit assignments.
This is a key appointment within the business and an excellent opportunity for an experienced Audit Supervisor, Assistant Audit Manager or an ambitious Audit Senior ready to take the next step in their career.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll have the opportunity to influence the continued growth and success of the audit department while remaining actively involved in delivering audits for many of the firms larger and more complex clients.
THE ROLE
This is a varied position with an approximate 70% audit and 30% accounts and wider practice split, offering the perfect balance between technical delivery and leadership responsibilities.
Working closely with the Audit Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the audit team while continuing to lead audit assignments from planning through to completion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Leading audit assignments for a varied portfolio of clients, including the firms larger and more complex audits
- Planning, supervising and reviewing audit assignments, ensuring work is delivered to the highest professional standards
- Acting as the day-to-day leader of the audit team, providing guidance, support and technical expertise
- Mentoring, coaching and developing Audit Seniors, Semi Seniors and Trainees, helping to build a strong and capable audit function
- Reviewing audit files and working papers, ensuring compliance with UK auditing standards and internal quality procedures
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the audit process
- Assisting the Audit Director with workflow planning, resource management and the continued development of the audit department
- Supporting accounts and wider practice assignments where required
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification (or be qualified by experience with significant external audit experience)
- A strong background in external audit gained within UK accountancy practice
- Experience leading audit assignments and reviewing the work of junior team members
- Previous experience mentoring or supervising colleagues, with a genuine passion for developing others
- Excellent technical knowledge of UK auditing standards
- Strong organisational, communication and client relationship skills
- A proactive approach and the ambition to play a key role in the continued growth of a successful audit department
