Accountant / Semi-Senior Accountant

A well-established accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Accountant / Semi-Senior Accountant to join its close-knit team in Spalding. This role involves working with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, offering genuine autonomy, direct client contact and the opportunity to take increasing responsibility for client relationships. The role would suit someone who enjoys working independently while still having access to support and ongoing professional development.
Role Responsibilities
- Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
- Preparing corporation tax returns.
- Supporting clients with accounting and tax queries.
- Reviewing bookkeeping records and identifying issues.
- Working with cloud accounting software, including Xero.
- Communicating directly with clients and developing long-term relationships.
- Helping clients understand their financial information and providing practical support.
- Taking increasing ownership of a portfolio of clients.
- Working closely with colleagues across accounts, bookkeeping and taxation.
- Using professional judgement to organise workload and manage deadlines independently.
Personal Requirements
- Minimum three years' UK accountancy practice experience.
- Experience preparing accounts using a balance sheet approach.
- Good technical accounting knowledge.
- AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified, studying towards a qualification, or qualified by experience.
- Confident communicating directly with clients.
- Able to work independently and take responsibility for your own workload.
- Strong interest in developing client relationships and providing practical advice.
- Positive attitude towards learning and professional development.
- Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Experience with Xero and/or Digita would be advantageous but is not essential.
