A leading firm of Chartered Accountants is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to join its Team. The role offers the opportunity to work with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, entrepreneurs, charities and UK subsidiaries of international groups, providing a broad range of accountancy services.

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, LLPs, charities and groups.
  • Prepare and review VAT returns, bookkeeping assignments and management accounts.
  • Manage work within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Clear review points, post adjustments and produce high-quality final files.
  • Liaise with the firm's outsourced service function, including sending work to outsource and dealing with queries and initial reviews.
  • Maintain accurate time recording and complete timesheets using CCH.
  • Supervise junior team members, ensuring high-quality work and providing end-of-job feedback.
  • Provide updates to managers and partners on issues identified with clients.
  • Liaise with the Tax Department and respond to queries.
  • Maintain CPD requirements and stay up to date with relevant developments.
  • Develop an understanding of client affairs and identify opportunities to provide additional services.
  • Carry out other duties required to support the smooth running of the department.

Personal Requirements

  • Current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.
  • Ideally fully AAT qualified or QBE.
  • Proven experience preparing statutory accounts across a range of entity types.
  • Experience with VAT returns, bookkeeping and management accounts.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and work to agreed budgets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident using IT and practice accounting software; CCH experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience supervising or reviewing junior team members would be beneficial.
  • Valid UK driving licence would be advantageous due to occasional client visits.
  • Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
