An established accountancy practice is seeking an ACA or ACCA qualified Accounts & Audit Senior to join its team and support a diversified portfolio of SME clients. This is a hands-on production role with an approximate 70/30 split between accounts and audit, involving statutory accounts, straightforward corporation tax and self-assessment returns, alongside statutory audit work. The role offers regular client contact and the opportunity to take increasing ownership of a portfolio, with audit work principally focused on academy schools, as well as companies and charities.
Role Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of predominantly SME clients across a range of industries.Prepare year-end statutory accounts under UK GAAP and FRS 102.Prepare corporation tax returns and CT600s.Prepare self-assessment tax returns.Review accounting records and identify accounting or tax issues.Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.Undertake statutory audit assignments for companies, charities and academy schools.Plan and perform audit fieldwork and prepare high-quality audit working papers.Take responsibility for appropriate sections of audit assignments through to completion.Identify and communicate audit issues to senior team members or Directors.Work with clients during the audit process and resolve outstanding matters.Review work completed by a junior team member and provide guidance and feedback.Manage your own workflow and ensure accounts, tax and audit assignments are completed within deadlines.Work closely with Directors on more complex accounting, tax and audit matters.Develop strong client relationships and gain a good understanding of clients' businesses.Take increasing responsibility for your client portfolio and audit assignments as your experience develops.Personal Requirements
ACA or ACCA qualified.Minimum 4 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice.Recent and relevant public practice experience is essential.Proven experience preparing statutory accounts for SME clients.Practical experience across corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns.Relevant UK statutory audit experience.Good working knowledge of FRS 102 and UK accounting requirements.Good knowledge of UK corporation tax, income tax and VAT.Strong client-facing and communication skills.Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of client assignments.Able to work across a varied portfolio and apply your technical knowledge to different industries and client requirements.Experience reviewing or supervising junior staff.Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines.Full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.Must have full, unrestricted right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available for this position.Experience with Caseware, BTC, Xero, QuickBooks or Sage would be beneficial.Academy audit experience would be advantageous, although full training can be provided.If you are an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with strong UK accountancy practice experience and are looking for a varied Accounts & Audit Senior position, apply today.

Role Responsibilities

Current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.ACA, ACCA or ACA CTA qualified, or actively working towards a relevant qualification.Proven experience preparing accounts for a varied portfolio of external clients.Experience across accounts and audit within a practice environment.Strong knowledge of accounting standards and UK practice procedures.Good IT skills and familiarity with accounts and/or audit software.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Able to manage your own workload and work effectively to deadlines and budgets.Confident communicating with clients and resolving queries.Comfortable reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues.Willingness to travel to clients and other offices when required.Highly organised, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality work.Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK.
