Butler Rose is delighted to be working with a well-established and highly respected Devon manufacturer to recruit an experienced Toolmaker. This is an excellent opportunity to join a secure, growing business that combines traditional engineering expertise with modern manufacturing technology.
Working as part of a skilled in-house toolroom team, you will be involved in the manufacture, maintenance and development of precision tooling that supports the production of high-quality products supplied to customers worldwide. This is a rare opportunity to work on projects from concept through to finished product, giving you real ownership and visibility of your work.
The Role
As Toolmaker, your responsibilities will include:
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specificationsManufacturing, assembling and fitting precision press and mould toolsOperating a range of equipment including CNC lathes, CNC and manual milling machines, EDM machines, machining centres and grinding equipmentCarrying out preventative maintenance, repairs and modifications to toolingSupporting new product development through tool manufacture and improvement projectsWorking closely with engineering and production teams to develop practical tooling solutionsMaintaining accurate records of tooling designs, modifications and specificationsEnsuring all work is completed to required quality and safety standardsAssisting with continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activitiesAbout You
We are keen to speak with candidates who have:
Previous experience as a Toolmaker, Precision Engineer or similar tooling position
Strong machining and tool making skills within a manufacturing environmentThe ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specificationsExcellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workStrong problem-solving and fault-finding abilitiesA positive, proactive approach and willingness to learnThe ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamAn understanding of lean manufacturing principles would be advantageousWhat's On Offer?
Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience
