Reference: 264171371_1788880032

Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a well-established business with the recruitment of a Payroll & Accounts Assistant to join their busy finance team.

This is a varied, hands-on position offering exposure across purchase ledger, payroll, sales ledger, credit control and month-end accounting, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a broad finance role rather than focusing on just one area.

You will work closely with the wider finance team to ensure suppliers and employees are paid accurately and on time, while also supporting invoicing, cash collection and the preparation of management accounts.

Full-time | Permanent | Fully Office-Based

Key Responsibilities
Take primary responsibility for the purchase ledger, matching supplier invoices against purchase orders and resolving any discrepancies or queries.
Prepare supplier payment runs and load payments onto the banking system for approval.
Complete supplier statement reconciliations and ensure payments are processed accurately and on time.
Prepare and process the weekly payroll for warehouse employees.
Provide cover across the sales ledger, including raising customer invoices and allocating incoming payments.
Assist with the collection of outstanding customer debts.
Analyse financial transactions and prepare journals to support the monthly management accounts process.
Produce reports and financial information used by management to support decision-making.
Work closely with colleagues across the business to resolve finance and payroll queries.
About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience within a finance or accounts environment.
Experience of purchase ledger, invoice matching and bank reconciliations.
Knowledge of computerised accounting systems.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage several priorities at once.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
A reliable, conscientious and flexible approach.
The ability to work effectively as part of an established team.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with colleagues and suppliers.
A professional approach to confidential financial and payroll information.
The ability to remain calm and organised when working to deadlines.

Desirable
Previous experience of running or assisting with payroll.
Experience using Sage 200 and/or Sage Payroll.
Previous experience working within an office-based finance team.

Benefits
Full-time, permanent position.
Fully office-based.
30 days annual leave including bank holidays.
Company pension.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a genuinely varied finance position where they can build experience across both accounts and payroll within an established and supportive team.
