Butler Rose, public practice is delighted to be supporting one of our clients a well established firm based in Birmingham. They've got a great opportunity for an Assistant Tax Manager to join their team. You will work closely with the Directors and collaborate with the international offices, gaining exposure to interesting and complex tax matters. This role is designed as a step towards Manager level, offering the right candidate the opportunity to build confidence, develop technical depth, and take on increasing responsibility
Role Requirements-
Person Responsibilities -
Strong experience in personal tax, with good exposure to compliance and some review experience.CTA qualified (or close to completion) - Ideal but not essential.Developing experience in reviewing work and supporting junior staff.Increasing confidence working autonomously, with appropriate escalation.Exposure to double tax treaties, residency issues, and international tax matters is desirable.Exposure to US tax or internationally mobile clients is advantageous.Developing client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.High attention to detail and commitment to quality.Proactive mindset with ambition to progress to Manager level.Employee Benefits-

An established and growing accountancy firm is seeking an Assistant Tax Manager or Tax Manager to join its expanding private client tax team in Ely. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with experience across personal tax compliance and advisory work, particularly involving trusts and private clients, to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment. The role offers exposure to a varied portfolio including high-net-worth individuals, non-residents and trustees, alongside opportunities to contribute to advisory projects and client relationship management.
Role Responsibilities
Prepare and review Self Assessment tax returns, including capital gains computations and property income schedules.Manage personal tax compliance deadlines and ensure timely submissions and payments.Support and deliver advisory work relating to Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and trusts.Assist with trust compliance, trust registration matters and associated IHT considerations.Carry out Statutory Residence Test reviews and non-resident tax return work.Manage and develop a portfolio of private clients and maintain strong client relationships.Liaise directly with clients, business owners and internal teams regarding tax matters.Identify opportunities to provide additional services and support business development initiatives.Provide technical guidance and support to junior and non-tax staff.Review junior team members' work and assist with coaching, mentoring and development.Assist with ad-hoc advisory assignments and tax planning projects.Attend training courses and ensure ongoing CPD requirements are met.Personal Requirements
ATT qualified, CTA qualified/studying, or qualified by experience.Previous experience in personal tax compliance and advisory work.Trust experience is highly desirable.Strong understanding of Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and private client tax matters.Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines under pressure.Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.Experience managing client relationships and delivering high levels of service.Benefits
