A leading, forward-thinking accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead and develop its Northampton tax team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished tax professional who enjoys building strong client relationships, delivering strategic tax advice, developing talented teams, and driving business growth. Working with a diverse portfolio of businesses, charities, family-owned companies and private clients, you will play a key role in shaping the firm's tax offering while ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence and client service.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and grow the firm's tax advisory and compliance practice, setting the strategic direction for the department.
- Provide high-quality tax advisory services across a broad range of areas, including tax planning, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, international tax and transfer pricing.
- Develop innovative tax strategies that optimise clients' tax positions while remaining fully compliant with UK tax legislation.
- Build, maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, contributing to the continued growth of the tax practice.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of tax professionals, supporting their technical and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with UK tax legislation and keep clients informed of legislative changes and their impact.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across other service lines to deliver integrated advice and solutions.
- Manage complex client matters while maintaining exceptional standards of service and technical quality.
Personal Requirements
- CTA or ACA/CTA qualified.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in tax advisory, including significant experience in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive experience within an accountancy practice or large professional services tax environment.
- In-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation and experience advising on complex tax matters.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Strong business development skills with a track record of identifying and securing new opportunities.
- Experienced leader with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to clients.
- Commercially aware with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Adaptable, resilient and committed to delivering exceptional client service.
