A top 10 accounting firm is seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to join its Peterborough team. This is a senior client-facing position responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of corporate tax clients, overseeing compliance and advisory work, providing technical guidance and developing strong client relationships. The successful candidate will also play an important role in managing and developing the wider tax team, identifying opportunities for additional work and contributing to the continued growth of the tax offering.
Role Responsibilities
Manage a large portfolio of corporate tax clients, including complex companies and groups.Review complex corporation tax returns and larger group tax computations.Provide technical advice and support on complex corporate tax matters.Manage ongoing tax advisory projects across your client portfolio, with support from senior colleagues where required.Research complex technical issues and provide well-reasoned conclusions.Attend pre-year-end and completion meetings with clients.Review final tax packs and transmittal letters for more complex clients and approve work for issue.Maintain strong client relationships and ensure queries are dealt with effectively and efficiently.Work closely with audit and accounts teams to ensure client work is delivered within agreed timescales and expectations.Manage workflow planning across the team and delegate work appropriately.Review WIP and fee levels, ensuring completed work is billed appropriately and identifying areas where recovery can be improved.Support the development and implementation of pricing strategies for clients.Contribute to technical training and development initiatives within the department.Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and communicate relevant developments to clients and colleagues.Identify opportunities for additional advisory work and contribute to regional marketing activity.Assist with proposals, fee quotes and client tenders to help win new work.Generate leads and demonstrate the ability to secure new clients and additional work.Support the recruitment, development and performance management of junior team members.Identify skills gaps within the team and help develop colleagues through delegation, coaching and challenging assignments.Champion new technology and more efficient ways of working within the tax department.Personal Requirements
ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT or qualified by experience.Strong corporate tax experience gained within an accountancy practice.Experience managing a portfolio of corporate tax clients.Strong technical knowledge of UK corporate taxation.Experience reviewing complex corporation tax returns and larger groups.Previous experience managing, mentoring or developing junior members of a tax team.Strong client relationship and communication skills.Commercially aware with an understanding of fee recovery, pricing and business development.Able to research complex tax issues and reach sound technical conclusions.Organised and able to manage competing priorities, deadlines and client requirements.Confident making decisions and providing solutions independently.Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for advisory work and new business.Committed to continued technical development and keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation.Previous experience working in an accountancy practice alongside relevant professional study.Benefits
