A well-established and growing top 40 accountancy practice is looking to recruit an Accounts & Audit Senior to join its Peterborough office. Working with a broad portfolio of clients including owner-managed businesses, charities, partnerships and limited companies, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality accounts and audit services while supporting the development of junior team members. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with general practice experience who enjoys building strong client relationships and is looking to progress their career within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities and limited companies.
- Prepare independent examinations for charity clients for Partner review and sign-off.
- Assist managers with the planning and delivery of audit assignments.
- Prepare cash flow statements and supporting financial information.
- Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and provide excellent service.
- Complete assignments within agreed budgets and deadlines.
- Prepare draft tax computations and supporting schedules.
- Produce year-end accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Review the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
- Support and mentor junior staff with their technical development.
- Prepare VAT returns for a varied client portfolio.
Personal Requirements
- ACA, ACCA or ACA/CTA qualified, or actively studying towards qualification.
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
- Strong accounts preparation experience with exposure to audit assignments.
- Experience preparing accounts for a range of business entities, including charities.
- Confident reviewing junior staff's work and supporting their development.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective client relationships.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong IT skills and experience using accounts and audit software.
- Analytical, accurate and committed to delivering high-quality work.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to travel to client sites and other offices when required.
