Senior Accountant / Partner-Designate

A well-established, independent accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the firm with a view to long-term succession planning. This is a unique opportunity for a senior professional looking to step into a leadership role, with clear potential to progress toward partnership. Role Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SME clients, providing hands-on support with accounts, tax, and strategic financial advice.
- Lead the preparation and review of statutory accounts, management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and budget reports.
- Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted adviser on operational, commercial, and compliance matters.
- Take responsibility for workflow and resource management across a small but capable team.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, including supporting trainees through qualification and technical development.
- Contribute to the evolution of internal systems and processes, including paperless transitions and efficiency improvements.
- Engage in business development activities to support organic growth and local networking.
- Play a key role in the leadership and future strategy of the practice, including succession planning.
Personal Requirements
- ACCA or ACA qualified, with post-qualification experience in general practice.
- Proven experience in managing a portfolio of clients within a practice environment.
- Strong technical skills across accounts, tax, and advisory.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop team members effectively.
- Commercial mindset with interest in business development and client growth.
- Comfortable working in a small team with broad responsibilities.
- Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
