Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting for a Product Engineer on behalf of a well-established and highly successful manufacturing organisation based in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to join a forward-thinking business, supporting the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes within a technically advanced production environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Product Engineering Team Leader, you will play a key role in developing, implementing and maintaining best practice across product engineering activities. You will work closely with production, quality and customer-facing teams to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, meet customer requirements and achieve the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes and engineering standards.
  • Provide technical support to production teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products.
  • Manage engineering projects and product-related programmes from concept through to implementation.
  • Utilise CAD, CNC and 3D modelling tools to support manufacturing activities.
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework and process variation.
  • Analyse manufacturing data and prepare qualification, scrap and rework reports.
  • Implement process controls and dimensional improvements to enhance product quality.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs through process optimisation and waste reduction.
  • Present technical information and project updates to a range of stakeholders.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment in line with company standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using CAD software and/or tooling design principles.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and MRP systems.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management capabilities.
  • A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Experience

  • Injection moulding, ceramics processing or related manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience supporting complex production environments and process development activities.
