TRAINING & COMPETENCY ADVISOR
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2-year fixed-term contract
Are you an experienced Training & Competency professional looking for your next opportunity? We're looking for a proactive and organised individual to support training, competency assurance and compliance across a range of operational assets.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring training standards, competency frameworks and assessment programmes meet legislative requirements and industry best practice, helping maintain the safety and integrity of operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage training and competency frameworks across operated assets.
- Maintain competency assurance registers, training records and management systems.
- Develop and deliver training and competency reports, monitoring performance against key targets and KPIs.
- Ensure training and assessment programmes meet relevant legislative and business requirements.
- Develop and maintain training standards, procedures and processes.
- Provide guidance and support to operational teams on competency assessments and assurance.
- Oversee training and competency assurance programmes, including emergency response and safety-critical roles.
- Manage third-party training bookings and associated service provision.
- Support audits, inspections and compliance activities.
- Assist with training budgets, monitor expenditure and support financial planning.
- Work with HR to support apprentices transitioning into competency and assessment frameworks.
- Maintain accurate training and assessment records for contractors and operational personnel.
What We're Looking For:
- Several years' experience in training and competency management.
- A higher education qualification, with further professional qualifications desirable.
- Strong knowledge of training and competency legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience using training and competency management systems, ideally within the upstream oil and gas industry.
- A good understanding of safety case requirements and competency assurance standards.
- Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
- Experience developing or maintaining competency criteria and assessment frameworks.
Desirable: A background in Production Operations.
