A growing and well-established accountancy firm is seeking an Audit and Accounts Manager to join its Peterborough office. Working with a varied portfolio of clients ranging from owner-managed businesses to larger corporate organisations, this role offers the opportunity to lead audits, manage client relationships, oversee accounts preparation work, and support the development of junior team members within a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage and execute client audits for Partner sign-off, focusing on financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance.
- Review audit files, working papers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Prepare and review statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, charities, and limited companies.
- Prepare and review tax returns and VAT schedules.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and meetings.
- Organise workflow within the team, allocating work effectively based on capacity and deadlines.
- Review work completed by junior staff and provide guidance and support.
- Monitor team performance and ensure work is delivered within budget and timescales.
- Support and mentor junior team members in their professional development.
- Assist with more complex accounting, VAT, and tax-related matters where required.
Personal Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Previous experience within a general practice environment.
- Strong audit and accounts experience across a varied client portfolio.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Client-focused approach with the ability to build long-term professional relationships.
- Comfortable travelling to client sites and between offices.
- Good IT and systems skills.
