An established chartered accountancy firm is seeking a Service Charge Accounts Trainee to join their specialist service charge team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop their accountancy career within a niche area of practice, with full support towards an AAT apprenticeship. The successful candidate will specialise in service charge accounting, gaining hands-on experience preparing financial information for residential and commercial property developments while working within a supportive and collaborative team environment. Role Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of service charge accounts for residential and commercial property developments.
- Processing income, expenditure and financial transactions accurately.
- Completing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records.
- Reviewing invoices, expenses and supporting documentation.
- Assisting with the preparation of service charge statements and financial reports.
- Ensuring costs are correctly allocated to the relevant developments.
- Supporting the team with the day-to-day administration of service charge accounts.
- Liaising with property managers and other stakeholders when required.
- Developing an understanding of service charge accounting processes and industry requirements.
- Working towards an AAT qualification alongside gaining practical workplace experience.
Personal Requirements
- Ideally some previous experience within accounts, bookkeeping, finance administration or a related role.
- Any exposure to service charge accounts, property accounting or client accounting would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A genuine interest in developing a career within accountancy and working towards an AAT qualification.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to work.
- Good numerical skills and confidence working with financial information.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist area of accountancy.
