Due to continued growth, an established accounting firm is seeking an experienced Client Manager to join its team. The role will involve managing a varied portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses and their owners, with responsibility for statutory accounts, Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment, alongside regular client contact and advisory work. This is a hands-on practice role suited to an ACA/ACCA qualified or experienced part-qualified accountant who enjoys building strong client relationships and taking ownership of their work from preparation through to completion.

Role Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of clients, providing a high-quality and responsive service.Prepare and finalise year-end financial statements for Limited Companies, LLPs, Partnerships and Sole Traders.Prepare Corporation Tax computations and returns.Prepare Self-Assessment Tax Returns for directors, business owners, partners and connected individuals.Provide clients with proactive advice on tax efficiency, accounting systems and regulatory compliance.Respond to client queries professionally via email, telephone and face-to-face meetings.Liaise with HMRC and other relevant authorities on behalf of clients.Identify opportunities to introduce additional services across the existing client base.Assist with bookkeeping queries and work alongside the bookkeeping team where required.Undertake ad-hoc assignments including management accounts, budgets and cashflow forecasts.Contribute to improving internal processes, technology and workflow systems.Ensure client files and workpapers are maintained to the required professional and practice standards.Keep up to date with changes to UK accounting standards, tax legislation and professional requirements.Support the Partners with wider practice matters and other reasonable assignments as required.

Personal Requirements

Current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.Existing, unrestricted right to work in the UK is essential. Visa sponsorship is not available.ACA or ACCA qualified, or equivalent.Experienced part-qualified candidates with substantial relevant practice experience will also be considered.Proven experience preparing statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of SME clients.Strong UK tax compliance experience, including Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment.Good knowledge of UK accounting standards and practice compliance requirements.Strong client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with business owners and individuals.Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and take ownership of a portfolio.Proactive and commercially aware, with an interest in identifying additional opportunities for clients and the practice.Experience with CCH Accounts and Tax Production would be advantageous but is not essential.Experience using Xero would be beneficial.

An established and growing accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join its St Ives team, providing a broad range of tax compliance and advisory support to a varied portfolio of predominantly small and medium-sized family-owned businesses and their owners. This is a client-facing role offering exposure across personal and corporate tax, with the opportunity to work closely with Partners, Tax Managers and the wider accounts team while developing strong, long-term client relationships.

Role Requirements

Prepare and review corporation tax computations and returns.Prepare and review personal tax returns.Handle tax enquiries and liaise with HMRC and other third parties as required.Provide support and advice on a broad range of UK tax matters, including income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, VAT and Stamp Duty.Assist with R&D claims, capital gains tax reporting, tax disclosures and P11D reporting.Respond to ad-hoc client tax queries with support from Tax Managers and Partners where required.Liaise regularly with Partners, Tax Managers and members of the accounts team.Attend client meetings and assist with discussions relating to their tax affairs and accounts.Assist the accounts team with the preparation, review and amendment of client accounts where required.Correspond professionally with clients, HMRC and other relevant third parties.Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through CPD, training and regular reference to relevant tax legislation and technical material.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and professional contacts.Contribute to the continued development and reputation of the practice.

Personal Requirements

Current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.Proven experience in a practice-based tax role, working with external clients.Strong knowledge of UK personal and corporate tax compliance.Experience preparing and/or reviewing corporation tax and personal tax returns.Good understanding across a broad range of UK taxes, including income tax, CGT, IHT and VAT.Strong communication and client relationship skills, with confidence attending client meetings and dealing directly with queries.Ability to work effectively with Partners, Managers and colleagues across the wider practice.Good technical attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining professional knowledge and CPD.Commercially aware with a genuine interest in supporting client relationships and contributing to the growth of the practice.Applicants must have full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT or qualified by experience.Strong corporate tax experience gained within an accountancy practice.Experience managing a portfolio of corporate tax clients.Strong technical knowledge of UK corporate taxation.Experience reviewing complex corporation tax returns and larger groups.Previous experience managing, mentoring or developing junior members of a tax team.Strong client relationship and communication skills.Commercially aware with an understanding of fee recovery, pricing and business development.Able to research complex tax issues and reach sound technical conclusions.Organised and able to manage competing priorities, deadlines and client requirements.Confident making decisions and providing solutions independently.Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for advisory work and new business.Committed to continued technical development and keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation.Previous experience working in an accountancy practice alongside relevant professional study.
