Business Development Manager - 4 day compressed working week
Location: South Lakes (Hybrid / Field-Based) - 2 days office per month after training. Must be able to be onsite during first 3 to 6 months.
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 DOE + £525 monthly car allowance + bonus

Butler Rose Lancashire & Cumbria are exclusively appointed to support our client in their search for an Aerospace Business Development Manager. This opportunity has arisen due to continued growth within a highly innovative and technically advanced engineering organisation operating within the aerospace sector.

This is a pivotal role focused on driving sales growth across the UK, Europe, and Rest of World markets (excluding the US), with a strong emphasis on developing and expanding business within the military aerospace sector.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, you will take ownership of both new business development and strategic account management. You will play a critical role in expanding market presence by selling complex, high-value engineering solutions into aerospace platforms.

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the aerospace sales cycle, where design and qualification phases can extend over multiple years. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities early, nurturing long-term relationships, and converting them into sustainable revenue streams.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading all sales activities into the aerospace and defence sectorsDeveloping and executing strategic sales plans with clear growth targetsBuilding and managing key customer relationships across OEMs and Tier 1 suppliersDriving new business acquisition while growing existing accountsNavigating complex, long sales cycles within aerospace programmesCollaborating cross-functionally to deliver integrated technical solutionsMaintaining accurate pipeline and forecasting data via CRM systemsEnsuring compliance with export regulations and international standards
About You

To be successful in this role, you must combine strong commercial acumen with a solid technical foundation.

Essential requirements:

Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProven experience selling technical products or systems into the aerospace sector is essential.Demonstrable success in both new business development and account managementExperience managing long and complex sales cyclesStrong understanding of engineering-led solutions and applicationsExcellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

Desirable:

Experience working with defence organisations or MoDKnowledge of export controls / ITAR regulationsBackground in electronic systems, lighting, or electro-mechanical products
