A growing accountancy practice is looking for a Probate, Trusts & Estates Tax Technician to join their expanding Private Client team. This is a full-time position based in Ely, with flexibility for hybrid working or time in the Bury St Edmunds office.
The role is perfect for someone early in their career who wants to gain hands-on experience in probate, estate administration and trust taxation, with opportunities to develop technical expertise and professional qualifications.
Role Responsibilities
Assist with the administration of estates and probate work, including preparing IHT400s and other inheritance tax documentation.Support with drafting estate accounts and managing estate data using specialist software.Prepare trust and estate tax returns, including capital gains computations and property income details.Register trusts and estates through HMRC's Trust Registration Service (TRS) and maintain key reporting deadlines.Liaise directly with clients and HMRC on a range of private client matters.Provide administrative support to the wider Private Client team as required.Maintain accurate records and deliver work to agreed timescales and quality standards.Contribute to the development of processes and team collaboration across the department.Personal Requirements
An interest in developing a career within private client tax, trusts, or estate administration.Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organisation.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Confident using Microsoft Office applications and comfortable learning new software tools.A positive, proactive approach and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.Previous experience in probate or tax would be helpful, but training will be provided.Benefits
