A well-established and growing chartered accountancy practice in St Ives is seeking an organised and proactive Administrative Assistant to support the Practice Manager and Client Managers. The role will involve a varied mix of practice administration, client support, statutory filings, correspondence and credit control, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator looking to develop their career within a professional accountancy environment.

Role Responsibilities

Preparing and submitting statutory filings, particularly Companies House Confirmation Statements.Drafting professional letters, correspondence and accounting-related documentation.Supporting credit control processes, including monitoring outstanding balances and liaising with clients regarding overdue payments.Providing reception and telephone cover during periods of annual leave and absence.Supporting the Practice Manager with general administration and office management.Assisting Client Managers with ad hoc administrative and client-related tasks.Maintaining and updating client records and internal databases.Managing electronic filing and document management systems.Providing wider administrative support to the practice as required.

Personal Requirements

Previous experience working within a professional services environment is essential.Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.Professional and confident written and verbal communication skills.Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.Previous experience with Companies House processes and statutory filings would be advantageous.Experience drafting professional client correspondence and documentation would be beneficial.Previous credit control or client account administration experience would be desirable.A positive, proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Due to continued growth, a well-established accounting firm is looking for an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to join its St Ives team. You will be responsible for managing the bookkeeping needs of a portfolio of clients, including processing sales and purchase invoices, completing bank reconciliations and preparing VAT returns. The role also offers regular client contact and the opportunity to work closely with the accounts team, making this a varied position for someone who enjoys both technical bookkeeping and client interaction.

Role Responsibilities

Manage the bookkeeping requirements of a portfolio of external clients.Post and process sales and purchase invoices.Complete bank reconciliations.Prepare and submit VAT returns.Respond to ad hoc client queries via email, telephone and face-to-face.Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a range of clients.Work closely with the accounts team to ensure accurate reporting.Manage workload effectively and meet client deadlines.

Personal Requirements

Previous bookkeeping experience is essential.Practice experience is preferred.Experience managing a portfolio of clients would be advantageous.Experience using Xero is required.Experience using Sage is desirable, although training will be provided.Good understanding of bookkeeping processes, including VAT and bank reconciliations.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Confident dealing directly with clients.Good communication and organisational skills.Able to work effectively both independently and as part of an accounts team.

THE OPPORTUNITY

An established independent accountancy practice in Old Trafford is looking for an experienced Healthcare Personal Tax Specialist to join its specialist team.

The practice has a long-established client base, with a particular focus on GPs, medical consultants, dentists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with healthcare-sector tax experience who wants genuine autonomy, long-term client responsibility and the opportunity to become a key figure within an established practice.

Working initially alongside the practice owner, you will gradually take responsibility for an established portfolio, becoming the trusted day-to-day adviser to your clients. There is also potential for the right individual to become involved in the long-term succession planning of the practice.

THE ROLE

You will have a strong focus on personal tax, alongside wider accounting and advisory responsibilities.

KEY AREAS WILL INCLUDE

Managing an established portfolio of healthcare clientsPreparing and reviewing personal tax returnsProviding personal tax advice and planningWorking with GPs, dentists, pharmacists, consultants and other medical professionalsDealing with clients with varied income streams, investments and business interestsApplying knowledge of healthcare-specific tax and accounting considerationsReviewing accounts and identifying tax or accounting issuesLiaising with clients, HMRC and other stakeholdersIncreasingly taking ownership of client relationships and the wider portfolio

What Were Looking For

Healthcare experience is essential. You should have previous experience within an accountancy practice and a strong background in personal tax, ideally with exposure to:

GP and medical partnershipsHealthcare professionalsNHS-related income and pensionsHealthcare VAT and/or locum taxationTax planning and advisory work


ACA, ACCA, CTA, part-qualified or QBE candidates will be considered. Technical ability, healthcare experience and the confidence to manage clients autonomously are more important than qualification status alone.

A leading Top 10 accountancy firm is seeking a Senior or Assistant Manager to join its Accounts & Business Advisory team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant looking for a client-facing role with responsibility for a varied portfolio, covering accounts preparation and review, management accounts, VAT, CIS and MTD for Income Tax. The role offers significant client interaction, including working at client premises, alongside the opportunity to support and mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the wider development of the team.

Role Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for planning, deadlines, workflow and delivery of assignments.Prepare and review accounts through to management accounts level, ensuring work is accurate, compliant and delivered to a high standard.Prepare and review VAT and CIS returns, identifying and escalating any technical issues where appropriate.Support clients with accounting software, helping them improve processes and maintain accurate financial records.Act as a key point of contact for clients, responding to queries and providing clear, practical accounting and financial guidance.Identify opportunities for additional services, variations in scope and value-added work, with support from senior management where required.Carry out client work both in the office and on-site, working independently while maintaining strong communication with the wider team.Review working papers and assignments, ensuring review points are addressed and work is ready for senior/partner review.Support and mentor junior team members, helping to develop their technical knowledge, skills and confidence.Monitor work in progress and draft fees, ensuring work is completed efficiently and within agreed timescales.

Personal Requirements

Previous experience within an accountancy practice.ACA, ACCA, AAT qualified or qualified by experience.Strong knowledge of VAT and CIS regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge when supporting clients and colleagues.Experience preparing and reviewing accounts through to management accounts level.Confident working directly with clients, including at client premises.Good knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting software, with the ability to assist both clients and junior colleagues.Strong attention to detail, with pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.Ability to manage your own portfolio and deadlines, taking ownership of assignments from start to finish.Commercial and client-focused approach, with the confidence to identify additional opportunities and scope changes.Strong communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to support the development of junior team members.
