We are recruiting exclusively for a growing business who are looking for a Payroll Officer to join the team on a full-time permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys running payroll from start to finish, is ready to take full ownership of a Payroll function and wants to be part of a supportive, professional team.
The role is office-based to begin with, giving you the chance to get to know the business and processes. Once fully settled, you'll have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis.
Key Responsibilities as the Payroll Officer:
Processing start-to-finish monthly payroll for salaried and hourly staff
Importing and checking timesheets and hours worked
Calculating overtime, holiday pay, statutory sick pay, and maternity/paternity pay
Managing starters, leavers and contract changes
Setting up new employees and maintaining payroll records
Processing pensions, auto-enrolment and liaising with providers
Handling PAYE, NI and other statutory deductions
Submitting RTI and HMRC returns on time
Producing and distributing payslips, P45s and P60s
Responding to payroll queries quickly and professionally
Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and company policies
To be considered for this Payroll vacancy, you will have
Experience running payroll from start to finish (essential & within the last 2 years)
Confident using Sage Payroll
Good understanding of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, NI and pensions
Excellent attention to detail
Clear communicator with the ability to work independently
You must also be able to reliably commute to the office. The office is located within commutable distance from: Glastonbury, Wells, Bridgwater, Shepton Mallet and Cheddar.
In exchange for this Payroll Officer role, you will get
Salary up to £36,000 DOE
Hybrid working once settled (3 office days, 2 home days)
