Stimulating opportunity for an Interim Financial Controller in Exeter, Devon

This is a temporary job for an enthusiastic qualified accountant in Devon for 3 to 6 months to support a busy charity.

Working on-site in the office a minimum of 2 days a week, you will be an experienced team leader who effectively guides and motivates a team towards achieving shared goals.

Reporting to the CFO in this well-respected charity, duties will include:

Interim Finance Manager job in Newton Abbot, Devon

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager ready to take the lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment for a period of at least 3 months.

Our client is seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join the leadership team and take full ownership of the finance function. This is a key role that will see you managing day-to-day operations, leading a team of three, and contributing to strategic financial planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee the daily operations of the finance department.Manage, develop, and appraise a finance team of three.Monitor financial transactions including payroll, invoicing, and general operations.Prepare monthly management accounts and analyse P&L variances.Maintain accurate and timely accounting records for internal and external reporting.Liaise with auditors and support budget setting and forecasting processes.Provide commentary and financial insight to support strategic decisions.Deliver detailed short-term cashflow reporting and treasury management.Oversee weekly/monthly payroll and CIS payments.Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, CIS, corporation tax).Manage accounts receivable and payable processes.Maintain and optimise accounting software systems.Analyse KPI variances and support ongoing business performance reviews.Support ad hoc projects and HR compliance initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).Proven experience in a senior finance role, preferably within a fast-moving or construction environment.Strong leadership and team management skills.Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.Commercially minded with strong business acumen.Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Sage L50Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
