Are you an experienced Quality professional looking to take ownership of a Quality Management System within a successful manufacturing business? Do you enjoy driving continuous improvement, leading audits, and working with stakeholders across an organisation to improve quality, compliance, and operational performance?

We are recruiting for a Quality Management System (QMS) Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing organisation in Plymouth. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and developing the company's ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System while supporting wider business improvement initiatives during an exciting phase of growth for the business.

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Engineering Manager, you will take responsibility for maintaining, developing and continuously improving the Quality Management System across the business. Working closely with colleagues across multiple departments, you will provide guidance on quality best practice, support compliance activities, and drive improvements that enhance efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities will include:

Maintaining and improving the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 requirements and business objectivesPlanning and conducting internal quality and process auditsSupporting external certification, customer and supplier auditsInvestigating non-conformances and leading root cause analysis activitiesManaging corrective and preventive actions through to completionLeading structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA and IshikawaDeveloping, monitoring and reporting on quality and business KPIsCreating and maintaining procedures, work instructions, process maps and controlled documentationConducting gap analyses and implementing process improvements with key stakeholdersPromoting a culture of quality, continuous improvement and operational excellence

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

ISO Internal Auditor qualificationProven experience maintaining and improving ISO-based Quality Management Systems within a manufacturing or engineering environmentStrong working knowledge of ISO 9001Experience of root cause analysis, 8D investigations and problem-solving methodologiesKnowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principlesExperience conducting internal audits and managing corrective actionsStrong analytical skills with experience developing and reporting KPIsExperience using ERP systems and business management softwareExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsStrong Microsoft 365 and Excel skills

Desirable experience includes:

HNC in Engineering or a related disciplineISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualificationLean Six Sigma Green BeltKnowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001Experience with Power BI, SharePoint, Azure DevOps or similar business systemsExperience within a highly regulated manufacturing or engineering environmentKnowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) processes
