Bookkeeper, Maternity Cover Contract, Central London

Are you an experienced Bookkeeper, currently working within an accountancy practice and looking for a varied, client-facing role where you can take ownership of your own portfolio?

We are working with a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice in Central London, looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join its accounts team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a diverse and interesting client portfolio, ranging from small owner-managed businesses through to substantial organisations and international groups with turnovers exceeding £200 million.

The role offers exposure to more complex bookkeeping assignments, including foreign currency transactions, group structures and inter-company reconciliations, alongside the preparation of management accounts.

THE ROLE

Working within an established and supportive accounts team, you will manage the bookkeeping and management accounts requirements of your own allocated portfolio, while collaborating with colleagues on larger and more complex clients.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of accountancy practice clientsPreparing accurate and timely management accountsProcessing and reconciling foreign currency transactions, including international activityHandling group company and inter-company transactions and reconciliationsMaintaining accurate accounting records, journals and balance sheet reconciliationsLiaising directly with clients, obtaining information and resolving queriesSupporting year-end accounts preparation and wider accounts assignmentsUsing Sage, QuickBooks and Xero to maintain client recordsEnsuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines

ABOUT YOU

We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced practice bookkeepers who are confident managing their own workload and can hit the ground running.

You will need:

Previous accountancy practice experience - essentialStrong bookkeeping experience across multiple clientsProven experience preparing management accountsPractical experience of foreign currency transactions and reconciliationsExperience with group companies and inter-company transactionsGood working knowledge of Sage, QuickBooks and XeroExcellent organisational skills and attention to detailStrong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clientsA proactive, personable approach and willingness to support colleagues

WHATS ON OFFER

Salary: £38,000-£44,000 per annum, depending on experienceContract: Initial six-month PAYE fixed-term contract, with potential to extend to 9-12 monthsStart: Ideally December, allowing for a handover before maternity leave begins in JanuaryHours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:30pmLocation: Central LondonWorking arrangement: Fully office-basedVaried client exposure, including larger international businessesSupportive and experienced accounts team

This position would particularly suit an experienced practice-trained Bookkeeper or Senior Bookkeeper who enjoys client interaction, managing their own portfolio and working on technically varied assignments who is open and flexible to commit to a 6-12 month contract.
