Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a respected manufacturer based in Exeter in their search for an experienced Senior EHS Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to join a complex and dynamic production environment, where health, safety, and environmental standards are central to business success.
About the RoleAs the Senior EHS Coordinator, you will lead the development and implementation of professional EHS strategies, ensuring ongoing compliance with UK legislation and internal policies. You'll provide technical guidance across a large manufacturing facility, champion safety culture, and act as a key liaison for internal and external stakeholders including regulatory authorities.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure site-wide compliance with UK EHS legislation and internal standards.Deliver impactful training on safety systems, risk assessments, emergency procedures, and permit-to-work processes.Manage COSHH systems and occupational health programs, including surveillance and sampling.Coordinate audits, maintain legal registers, and report on incidents and near-misses.Lead on risk assessments and support a network of EHS representatives across the site.Engage with trade unions, corporate EHS teams, and external contractors.Actively contribute to the site's emergency response team.About YouYou will be a proactive EHS professional with a strong track record in manufacturing or engineering environments.
Essential:
Minimum of 5 years' EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.NEBOSH Certificate and degree in Health & Safety Management (or equivalent experience).Knowledge of UK and EU H&S legislation and ISO management systems.Confident communicator with excellent influencing and interpersonal skills.Understanding of behavioural safety and human performance principles.Desirable:

About the Role
Reporting to the Process Engineering Team Leader, the successful candidate will support and develop robust engineering processes critical to the manufacture of high-quality castings. The role offers the chance to gain in-depth exposure to advanced manufacturing techniques within a global business and contribute significantly to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement and maintain key process engineering activities.Deliver metallurgical processes for single crystal, directionally solidified and equiaxed products, ensuring compliance with customer metallurgical specifications.Reduce process-related scrap and drive continuous improvement across production lines.Provide technical support to production to ensure high-quality, cost-effective component manufacturing.Review and approve customer specifications with regard to metallurgical requirements.Produce customer qualification reports and manage part-specific engineering programmes.Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.Lead or contribute to engineering project assignments and new product qualifications.Liaise directly with customers to understand technical requirements and resolve product-related issues.What We're Looking For
Degree or HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.A minimum of 4 years' experience in a relevant process engineering role.Sound knowledge of multi-discipline engineering principles.Proficiency in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.Effective communicator with the confidence to deliver presentations and engage in technical discussions.Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and MRP systems.Solid understanding of statistical tools such as SPC, Process Capability, and Gauge R&R.Why Apply?
