A well-established civil engineering business based in the Bootle area is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager with additional Accounts Payable experience to join its finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive payroll professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and is keen to help improve and streamline existing payroll processes.
The Role
You will take ownership of the company's weekly and monthly payroll operations, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. Alongside payroll responsibilities, you will support the finance function with Accounts Payable duties.
The payroll function is currently quite manual, with paper-based timesheets feeding into the payroll process. Therefore, applicants with experience of payroll automation, process improvements, or system enhancements will be particularly attractive.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll processing using Sage PayrollEnsure payroll is processed accurately and within agreed deadlinesProcess and validate paper-based timesheetsMaintain payroll records and employee dataHandle payroll queries from employees and managementEnsure compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislationProcess supplier invoices and manage Accounts Payable activitiesReconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepanciesAssist with month-end finance processes as requiredIdentify opportunities to improve payroll efficiency and introduce automation where possibleAbout You
Previous experience managing end-to-end payrollStrong working knowledge of Sage PayrollExperience processing both weekly and monthly payrollsAccounts Payable experience is essentialGood understanding of payroll legislation and HMRC requirementsStrong attention to detail and organisational skillsConfident working with manual payroll inputs and timesheetsExperience implementing payroll improvements or automation projects would be highly advantageousStrong communication skills and ability to build relationships across the businessWhat's on Offer?
