This is a stand-a-lone role managing a busy payroll function for a varied client base, offering autonomy and the opportunity to make a real impact.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The firm processes payroll for over 160 clients and 730+ employees each month. You will take full ownership of the payroll function, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant payrolls while providing an excellent service to clients. The team is friendly, collaborative, and supportive, with a culture that values proactive advice and continuous learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ABOUT YOU
CIPP qualified (preferred)At least 5 years' senior payroll/bureau experienceConfident managing a full payroll function autonomouslyStrong knowledge of payroll legislation and complianceExcellent client communication skillsProficient with BrightPay (training available if needed)Highly organised, with strong attention to detailProactive approach with the confidence to work in a stand-a-lone role

Butler Rose are delighted to be working with an independent firm of accountants based in Blackburn who are looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Semi Senior to join their friendly and established team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-respected accountancy practice with a loyal client base across the North West. The firm has been established for over 20 years and works with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, sole traders, partnerships and limited companies across sectors including construction, agriculture, manufacturing, retail, property, professional services and more.

THE ROLE
This is a varied practice role with no audit work involved. You will be responsible for preparing accounts and tax work for a broad range of clients, while also supporting junior members of the team and maintaining strong client relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The firm uses a range of modern accountancy systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Dext, TaxCalc, BrightPay and Bright Manager, so experience with any of these would be beneficial.
ABOUT YOU
You will have the following skills and attributes:
AAT Level 4 or equivalentMinimum of 5 years post qualification practice experienceA genuine interest in current accountancy trends and changes in the industryPassionate about continued learning and career developmentGood knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT and taxExperience supporting junior team membersConfident communication skills and a client-focused approachStrong organisation skills and the ability to manage deadlinesA positive, team-focused attitudePayroll experience would be useful but is not essentialWHAT'S ON OFFER
