As part of your own development you will establish strong working relationships with your own portfolio of clients through assignments and regular contact, including attending client meetings. As you will be a key member of the team, previous tax experience within practice is essential, however we will consider candidates coming from a compliance or advisory background- or a mix of both. We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge, the ability to carry out research into complex areas of tax legislation, manage complex projects and help up-skill the tax team. Role Overview This is a pivotal position for an ambitious finance professional ready to take full ownership of the accounting function across all Group entities. As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting strategic growth by producing accurate financial and management information, driving process improvements, and ensuring financial compliance. Reporting directly to the Directors, you will also manage a small finance team and be the primary contact for external auditors. Key Responsibilities Accounting Systems & Reporting * Manage and maintain the Group's accounting system (currently Sage) and oversee data integration from third-party platforms such as payroll and production. * Produce monthly management accounts. * Review and ensure timely, accurate management accounts for all other Group entities. * Develop management information and financial reports to support business operations. * Lead the preparation of information for the annual audit and act as key liaison for Group auditors. Financial Operations & Compliance * Prepare statutory accounts and ensure readiness for audit in line with current accounting standards. * Oversee inter-company reconciliations, consolidations, and year-end adjustments. * Ensure compliance with financial and statutory requirements including: * VAT reporting * Government statistical returns * CCA reporting * Liaison with utility providers Process & Team Management * Lead and develop the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. * Review and enhance accounting procedures for increased efficiency and accuracy. * Ensure delivery of timely and accurate reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making. Person Specification Essential Skills & Qualifications * AAT qualified as a minimum (CIMA/ACCA part-qualified or finalist highly desirable). * Proven experience in financial and management accounting, ideally within manufacturing or FMCG. * Strong leadership and team management capabilities. * Excellent time management and ability to meet tight deadlines. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). * Advanced knowledge and practical experience with Sage or similar accounting systems. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organisation. Desirable * Working towards or already CIMA/ACCA qualified. * Experience in handling statutory accounts preparation and audit readiness. * Understanding of international reporting (e.g., French VAT, group consolidations).
