We're proud to be partnering with a highly respected manufacturing business in Exeter to recruit an experienced HR lead. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and proactive HR professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role within a fast-paced, operationally focused environment.
This position is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in generalist HR who thrives in a hands-on setting and is confident leading a small team, supporting line managers, and driving forward corporate HR initiatives.
The Role:
Working closely with the Head of HR, you'll take the lead on team coordination, employee relations, HR policy, and compliance reporting. You'll also support HR activity across multiple sites, with a strong focus on workforce planning, staff engagement, and continuous improvement.
You'll be a key player in shaping how HR supports the wider business-from managing KPIs and leading internal audits, to coaching team members and advising on complex ER matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the daily workflow of the HR team, including team briefings and inbox triageAct as deputy to the Head of HR and represent HR at senior level meetingsGuide the HR team on employment law updates and complex employee relations cases.Maintain and update all HR policies, audits, and compliance registers.Support delivery of L&D programmes, workforce planning, and salary benchmarkingManage monthly reports including attrition, overtime, absence, and organisational structure.Build strong relationships with line managers and union representativesProvide strategic input into corporate HR initiatives and change management projects.What We're Looking For:
Strong HR experience within a manufacturing or industrial environmentDemonstrated ability to lead or mentor HR team membersIn-depth knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR complianceConfident in handling complex ER matters, including disciplinary and grievancesCIPD Level 5 qualifiedExcellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skillsThis is an outstanding opportunity to join a thriving manufacturing employer in Exeter, with clear progression potential and the chance to make a real impact on HR service delivery.
