This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded, hands-on finance leader who enjoys working closely with the business and wants to have a genuine influence over its future direction.
The group comprises two established operating businesses with combined revenues in excess of £10m and approximately 80 employees. Operating across specialist technology, manufacturing and service-led markets, the businesses have continued to grow and evolve over recent years and are now entering another important phase of their development.
With further growth firmly on the agenda, the business is looking to appoint an FD who can not only provide strong financial leadership, but also work alongside the Managing Director and ownership team to help shape the next stage of the groups journey.
More about the opportunity…
* This is very much a hands-on SME Finance Director role.
* You will have overall responsibility for the finance function across the group, supported by an established team, but the position goes considerably further than traditional financial reporting.
* You will act as a trusted commercial partner to the Managing Director and wider leadership team, providing insight, challenge and support around both day-to-day performance and longer-term strategic decisions.
Responsibilities will include:
* Full oversight of the finance function across multiple group entities
* Monthly management reporting and performance analysis
* Annual statutory accounts and management of the audit process
* Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
* Treasury and working capital
* Payroll, VAT and financial controls
* Development of management information and commercial reporting
* Supporting and developing the existing finance team
* Driving improvements across finance systems, processes and ERP
* Capital expenditure appraisal and post-investment reviews
* Providing commercial insight to support growth and business development
* Working closely with operational and commercial teams across the group
* Importantly, the successful individual will also have exposure to wider strategic projects, which could include acquisitions, investment opportunities, business partnerships and new growth initiatives.

The Person
* We are looking for a qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA or CIMA - who combines strong technical capability with a pragmatic and commercial approach.
* You are likely to have operated as a Finance Director, Head of Finance or senior Financial Controller within an SME environment and be comfortable being both strategic and hands-on.
* Experience within manufacturing, engineering, technology or another product-led environment would be particularly advantageous.
You should also be able to demonstrate:
* Strong commercial and business partnering capability
* Experience leading a small finance function
* Excellent budgeting, forecasting and cashflow experience
* Strong systems knowledge, ideally including ERP implementation or development
* The ability to improve reporting, controls and processes
* Confidence working directly with an MD/owner and senior stakeholders

Butler Rose Leadership are delighted to be supporting a well-established and highly regarded multi-site organisation in Cumbria as they seek to appoint an IT Manager to lead the operational delivery of IT services across the Group.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a business experiencing significant growth and investment, where technology is recognised as a key enabler of future success. Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the day-to-day management, performance and development of the Group's IT function across multiple locations.
Managing a team of three IT professionals, this role is ideally suited to an experienced IT Manager, Infrastructure Manager or Senior IT Engineer looking for the next step in their career and a genuine springboard into a broader leadership position within the next 18-24 months.
The Opportunity
You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, secure and effective operation of the Group's IT infrastructure, systems and support services, delivering a high-quality service to users across multiple sites.
Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will oversee operational IT delivery, drive service improvements and ensure the IT function evolves in line with the organisation's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day IT operation across a multi-site environment.Manage, mentor and develop a team of three IT professionals.Ensure the availability, performance and security of infrastructure, systems and networks.Oversee IT support services and maintain high levels of customer service across the organisation.Manage relationships with external suppliers, partners and third-party support providers.Lead on IT procurement activities and ensure value for money across technology investments.Support cyber security initiatives, disaster recovery planning and business continuity processes.Monitor IT performance and identify opportunities for service improvement and operational efficiencies.Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and align IT delivery accordingly.Support infrastructure upgrades, system implementations and technology projects as the business continues to expand.Assist with budget management and IT expenditure planning.About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
Previous experience managing IT operations within a multi-site environment.Experience leading or supervising technical teams.Strong infrastructure knowledge across Microsoft technologies, networks, servers and cloud platforms.A good understanding of cyber security best practice and IT governance.Experience managing third-party suppliers and service providers.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.A proactive and commercially minded approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.Ambition to progress into a broader IT leadership role in the near future.What's on Offer
