Are you a Manufacturing Engineer with a passion for product development and Design for Manufacture? We're recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join a leading manufacturing business in Exeter, playing a key role within its Research & Development team.
This position offers the chance to work on the development of new products from concept through to production, ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, cost-effective and capable of meeting quality and performance requirements.
The Role
Working closely with Design Engineers, Production Engineering, Quality and other key stakeholders, you will support the development of innovative products while driving continuous improvement initiatives across existing product ranges.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring new product designs are suitable for manufacture and assemblyIdentifying manufacturing, tooling, material and assembly challenges during developmentInfluencing design decisions to improve manufacturability, repeatability and cost-effectivenessLeading prototype builds and providing technical feedback to stakeholdersSupporting design reviews and Design for Manufacture (DFM) activitiesLeading engineering projects focused on quality improvements, optimisation and cost reductionSupporting DFMEA reviews and risk assessmentsWorking closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launchesDriving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes and productsAbout You
Applicants should ideally have:
Experience within a manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of Design for Manufacture principlesAbility to interpret and produce engineering drawings and specificationsKnowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, materials and tolerancesExperience using 3D CAD software and producing 2D technical drawingsStrong project management and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilitiesAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesBenefits
