Corporate Tax Senior - Advisory

Butler Rose Public Practice is delighted to be supporting a growing and ambitious accountancy practice in the recruitment of a Corporate Tax Senior to join its expanding Tax Advisory team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to develop their career in a pure corporate tax advisory position. The role offers exposure to a broad range of complex advisory work with large corporate and owner-managed business clients. Please note that candidates from a purely compliance background will not be suitable for this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver corporate tax advisory services to a varied portfolio of UK and international clientsAdvise on restructures, reorganisations, demergers, management buyouts, Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs), and business transactionsSupport clients with business structuring, incorporations, profit extraction strategies, and due diligence projectsAssist with tax accounting, corporate tax reporting, and advisory support around compliance mattersWork alongside Partners and senior team members on complex technical projectsBuild and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to add valueSupport and mentor junior colleagues where requiredMaintain up-to-date technical knowledge across corporate tax legislation

Key Requirements

ATT, ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification (CTA or CTA part-qualified desirable)Proven experience in corporate tax advisory within an accountancy practiceStrong understanding of UK corporate tax legislation and commercial tax planningExperience advising on corporate restructures, transactions, and strategic tax mattersStrong communication and client relationship management skillsA proactive, analytical and commercially focused approach

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Director to lead a growing corporate tax function within a well-established accountancy practice in Greater Manchester.

This is a senior leadership role, offering the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of corporate clients, deliver high-value advisory services, and shape the strategic direction of the tax team.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in corporate tax, strong leadership skills, and the ability to develop talent within the team while maintaining excellent client relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and manage the corporate tax function, ensuring high-quality advisory and compliance servicesOversee a portfolio of corporate clients, including owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and larger corporate groupsProvide strategic tax planning advice, including corporate structuring, R&D incentives, capital allowances, international tax, and M&A due diligence.Act as the primary liaison with HMRC for senior client matters, risk management, and complex queriesMentor senior and junior tax team members, promoting professional development and technical excellenceSupport business development initiatives, identifying opportunities to expand advisory services and attract new clientsManage budgeting, billing, and WIP for the corporate tax department, ensuring efficiency and profitabilityStay current with tax legislation and professional developments, providing thought leadership internally and externally

REQUIREMENTS

ACA/ACCA/ CTA qualified10+ years' corporate tax experience in professional practice or corporate advisory, with at least 5 years in a leadership roleExperience managing a large and complex client portfolio independentlyExpertise in advisory projects, including international tax, share valuations, restructuring, and M&AProven leadership skills, with experience mentoring senior and junior staffExcellent communication skills for client engagement, team leadership, and stakeholder managementStrong analytical, strategic, and business development acumen

SALARY & BENEFITS

Base Salary: £65,000 - £90,000 per year (depending on experience).Total compensation includes performance-based incentives, benefits, and referral bonuses.Generous holiday allowance, flexible benefits, pension contributions, and other perks
