Finance Supervisor / Assistant Management Accountant

Location: Daventry Area
£15 - £18 per hour
Contract: Interim - 1-3 months possibly longer - Engineering business
Reporting To: Financial Controller

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a commercially minded finance professional to join a growing engineering organisation in a broad and varied accounting role.

Supporting both Financial Controller you will play an integral part in the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and efficient accounting processes. The position offers exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities, making it ideal for someone looking to develop their finance career within a dynamic operational business.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Financial Controller Provide cover for the Financial Controller when required.Assist with the development and support of junior finance team members.Post and allocate customer receipts and debtor payments.Maintain strong controls around cash management and banking activities.Prepare and maintain reconciliations for bank, cash and card transactions.Manage petty cash processes and ensure compliance with company policies and VAT requirements.Review and process employee expenses accurately.Support recurring customer payment and collection processes.Assist with the review and reconciliation of revenue data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Monitor aged debt and assist with collection activities where required.Process and verify supplier invoices in line with company procedures.Support payroll reporting and internal financial reviews.Resolve finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.Complete daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks in preparation for month-end reporting.Assist with journal preparation, including accruals and other balance sheet adjustments.Produce supporting schedules and reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts.Candidate Profile

You will be a proactive and detail-focused finance professional with a solid grounding in transactional and month-end accounting.

Key Requirements

Previous experience within a finance or accounting environment.Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.Experience with reconciliations, cash management and ledger maintenance.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.Ability to identify discrepancies and drive corrective action.Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Desirable Experience

Experience using finance and business systems such as:
