An established accountancy practice is seeking a Trainee Accounts Technician to join its General Practice team in King's Lynn. This opportunity is suitable for someone looking to begin their career through an AAT Apprenticeship (where eligible) or for a part-qualified AAT professional looking to continue developing within practice. Working with a broad portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, you will gain hands-on experience across accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, tax compliance and company secretarial work while receiving full study support and ongoing professional development.
Role Responsibilities
Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies from client records.Set up new client accounting files and identify any missing information.Process client records through to draft accounts stage.Complete reconciliations and maintain accurate supporting schedules.Review your own work before submitting it for manager review.Draft professional emails requesting additional client information.Process financial transactions using cloud accounting software, including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.Prepare VAT returns and communicate with clients throughout the submission process.Submit VAT returns to HMRC.Assist with bookkeeping and the preparation of regular management accounts.Prepare working papers to support Self-Assessment tax returns, including property income schedules.Support Making Tax Digital for Income Tax by preparing and consolidating quarterly submissions.Assist with the preparation and filing of Confirmation Statements.Support the completion of Companies House forms and company secretarial duties.Undertake general administrative duties and provide support to Partners and Managers as required.Work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in ongoing professional development and training.Personal Requirements
Studying towards AAT or eligible to undertake an AAT Apprenticeship.Previous accountancy practice experience is desirable but not essential.Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero and Sage.Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.Eager to learn and committed to building a career in accountancy.Able to work effectively as part of a team.Good written and verbal communication skills.Benefits
