THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you an experienced Accounts Senior looking for a role offering greater responsibility, a varied client portfolio and the opportunity to continue developing your career within a supportive accountancy practice?
Butler Rose is recruiting on behalf of an established and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Burnley, which is looking to strengthen its team with an experienced Accounts Senior.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and professional working environment, where you'll take responsibility for preparing and reviewing accounts, work closely with a diverse range of clients and play an important role in supporting the development of junior colleagues.
The position would suit someone who has built a strong foundation within a UK accountancy practice and is now looking for a role offering greater autonomy, client contact and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a busy and successful team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with experienced colleagues and a varied client base, your responsibilities will include:
Preparing year-end accounts and financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companiesProducing statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standardsPreparing draft tax computations and supporting schedules for tax returnsReviewing accounts and other assignments completed by junior members of the team, ensuring accuracy and qualityProviding guidance, training and support to junior colleagues to help develop their technical skills and confidenceLiaising directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and provide a professional, responsive serviceManaging your own workload and ensuring assignments are completed within agreed deadlines and budgetsPreparing VAT returns and supporting clients with related queriesIdentifying and resolving accounting issues, escalating more complex matters where appropriateSupporting the wider team with client assignments and contributing to the efficient running of the department
ABOUT YOU
We're looking for someone who enjoys working in accountancy practice, takes pride in delivering high-quality work and is confident taking responsibility for their own assignments.
IDEALLY YOU'LL HAVE....
Previous experience as an Accounts Senior or an experienced Accounts Semi Senior within a UK accountancy practiceAAT qualification, with the opportunity to progress towards ACA or ACCA if desiredStrong experience preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companiesA good understanding of relevant accounting standards and financial reporting requirementsExperience reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues, or the confidence to develop these responsibilitiesThe ability to manage assignments independently, prioritise workloads and meet deadlinesStrong communication skills and the confidence to build and maintain professional client relationshipsExcellent attention to detail, organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solvingGood IT skills and experience using accounting softwareThe ability to travel to client premises and between offices when requiredYou'll be joining a team that values people who take ownership of their work, communicate effectively and genuinely care about providing an excellent service to clients
