The Role:
As a 1st Line Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of personnel within your designated area. You will play a crucial role in ensuring company objectives are met in terms of safety, quality, and profitability. Your day-to-day activities will be aligned with the company's key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Full staff management, including overseeing cell leaders and ensuring KPI adherence.Enforcing compliance with health and safety policies, including risk assessments, safety audits, PPE adherence, and incident reporting.Managing quality standards, ensuring set-up verification, conducting dimensional checks, and leading scrap reduction initiatives.Monitoring daily output against targets, implementing recovery plans as needed, and driving continuous improvements.Managing productivity levels in line with company KPIs and ensuring optimal workforce planning.Ensuring all personnel receive appropriate training before undertaking any tasks.Leading HR activities such as recruitment, appraisals, performance reviews, and disciplinary hearings.Reviewing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) schedules and taking corrective action when targets are not met.Driving continuous improvement initiatives in line with the 5S methodology.Upholding compliance with shift patterns, breaks, and attendance requirements.Experience:

The Role
As the Production Department Manager, you'll take full accountability for overseeing multiple operational zones within the facility. This hands-on leadership role is critical in ensuring production targets are met with efficiency, safety, and exceptional quality. You'll be a key driver of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and team development.
This position is based on-site and operates Monday to Friday during the evening shift (15:00 - 23:00).

Uphold a safety-first approach across all operations.Maintain risk assessments and oversee safety audit processes.Address production issues with structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.Encourage waste reduction and sustainability practices.Communication & Collaboration
Maintain clear, consistent communication across teams and departments.Collaborate with departments such as Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to optimise operations.Actively contribute to meetings that support wider business objectives.Workforce Planning & Compliance
Oversee workforce planning, including onboarding, scheduling, and absence management.Monitor skill levels using internal matrix systems.Conduct return-to-work meetings and support HR processes when needed.Maintain accurate documentation in both physical and digital formats.What We're Looking For
Background in a production or manufacturing leadership role.Strong understanding of safety regulations, quality standards, and lean practices.Confident with production systems and general IT tools.Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.Knowledge of mechanical engineering or manufacturing systems is a plus.A management qualification (CMI Level 3 or working towards it) is desirable.Package
