Job description
An opportunity to join a established and welcoming organisation whose culture ensures retention of a good proportion of its employees and who due to continued growth and expansion is seeking a Payroll officer to join the payroll team on a permanent basis in their Bournemouth office.

This position oversees complete payroll administration for a huge proportion of the business.

Key responsibilities:

• Process the computerised 4 weekly payroll c1200 staff.
• Ensure all documentation is received on time in accordance with payroll deadlines
• Update and maintain confidential information on the Payrite payroll system.
• Process hours from a rostering system & input data such as new starters, leavers, overtime, Attachment of Earnings, statutory & company sick pay, statutory parental pay etc.
• Process Automatic Enrolment
• Process SIP and SAYE schemes
• Prepare files for BACS.
• Prepare faster payments when necessary.
• Reporting to HMRC i.e. FPS, EPS etc.
• Preparing ad hoc management information reports.
• Have daily contact with staff at all levels, either to liaise with employees, on any payroll matters as appropriate or to provide Management with information.
• Regularly liaise with external agencies such as HMRC, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), Job Centre Plus, Software supplier, Pension Providers etc.
• Develop and document procedures to meet new requirements or to manage additional work.
• Generally support the Payroll Manager & provide cover in their absence.

Person Specification:

• Extensive experience in Payroll within a senior capacity.
• Good working knowledge of the processes involved in the running of a modern computerised payroll system. Experience of Payrite is desired but not essential.
• Excellent IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft systems including intermediate to advanced skills in Excel.
• Excellent understanding of PAYE including Tax & National Insurance calculations & statutory payments.
• CIPP qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
• Confidence with processing high volumes in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining absolute accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Resilient and able to work effectively under pressure of deadlines
• Honesty and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to identify process improvements and lead the way for efficient ways of working.
