Assistant Accountant - Exeter (Hybrid)

£26,500 Full-time, Permanent

The company:

A large, dynamic finance team based in Exeter, who have a reputation for progressing their employees through their accounting training. We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support their finance function and help drive the business forward. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress their career in accounting while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Accountant, you will work closely with the Management Accountant and wider finance team to ensure the smooth operation of our accounting processes. Your main duties will include:

- Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts

- Maintaining and reconciling the general ledger

- Processing invoices, payments, and expenses

- Assisting in the preparation of financial reports and budgets

- Supporting month-end and year-end closing procedures

- Conducting bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies





Skills and Qualifications:

We are seeking a candidate with the following skills and qualifications:

- AAT part/qualified (or equivalent)

- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role (minimum 1-2 years)

- Good understanding of accounting principles and procedures

- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines

- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
